Apparently he was originally offered a 1 year extension, he turned it down. Said then that he was hoping for a 2 year deal and the Caps came back with a 3 year $18.5 Million contract. He reportedly said he was happy because he likes Washington. (we like him too)
He earned $5 million each of the past three seasons, got a raise with this new deal. He will earn $6 million each of the next two seasons and $6.25 million in 2014-15, which makes the salary cap hit $6.083 million.
I'm happy for the Caps on this extension.
